How heat pump hot water systems work
Heat pump hot water systems use heat from the atmosphere and convert it directly into hot water. They store hot water in a water tank much like electric hot water systems do but they have a heating system with an exhaust fan sitting on top of the tank. A heat pump system uses the earth’s atmosphere to help heat the water instead of relying purely on electricity. This exhaust fan expells cold air, working in a similar fashion to how an air conditioner works, but in reverse!
Unlike traditional solar, heat pump systems continue working regardless of how much sunlight there is and work all year round.
